PCB Bans Younis, Yousuf For Life:LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board has imposed ban for life on Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf Wednesday.
Heavy fines have been decided some other cricketers including Shahid Afridi, Shaoib Malik, Rana Naveed-ul Hasan, Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal.
Rs 3 million fine is for Shahid Afridi and Kamran Akmal and Rs 2 million fine is for Rana Naveed, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal.
The PCB inquiry committee was given recommendations to take stren action against the players.
The Chief Selector said that the decision of the PCB is strict and good. “I back the decision of the committee.”
He said that these players are for the national team not for their own teams. “These steps will be result oriented and it is better for the future of cricket in Pakistan.”
He said that our players should respect the country first.
Former test cricketers Zaheer Abbas also backed the decision but requested the board to reconsider the decision against Mohammad Yousaf and Younis Khan.
“The fines on the players are okay but the decision to impose ban on senior players for life is harsh,” told Rameez Raja.
He said that the whole nation wants a reputable and tough team, adding that the team lacks discipline. There should not be any compromise on the decision, he added.
“It will affect the richness and the half the talent of test cricket.”
Former test cricketer Abdul Qadar said that the decision of the PCB is not bad but it should be implemented. “This is a brave decision.”
Pakistan team’s former captain, Inzmamul Haq, said that the decision of the committee is bias. “The committee is partial. What kind of message we are going to set for the world? Heavy fines and life ban will destroy the cricket in Pakistan. I am totally against the decision of the PCB against the senior players.”
AGENCIES ADD: Former captains Younus Khan and Muhammad Yousef will no longer be considered for selection by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after an inquiry into reports of infighting on the disastrous tour of Australia.
The PCB chose to implement the recommendations of an inquiry committee to also hand out 12-month bans to Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved and fine Shahid Afridi and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal three million rupees ($35,000) and Umar Akmal two million ($24,000).
“Mohammed Yousaf and Younus Khan… attitude has a trickledown effect which is a bad influence for the whole team (and they) should not be part of (the) national team in any format,” the PCB said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The recommendations of the inquiry committee will go a long way in arresting the continuing decline in Pakistan cricket.”
Pakistan lost every match against Australia in their three-test, five one-day and solo Twenty20 series.
The PCB said the six-member inquiry committee, headed by its chief operating officer Wasim Bari, had based its recommendations on information gathered during several marathon hearings with the players and reports from the team management.
