Jordan Hicks Announcement
January 30, 2010
Jordan Hicks Announcement:Linebacker Jordan Hicks announced on Friday afternoon that he would play the college football at Texas in the fall. He has chosen Texas from his choices of Ohio State, Florida and Texas. His announcement update is also interesting because with this announcement he has made major ramifications in the defense and potential change in the team of Texas. He made this announcement at Lakota West High School outside Cincinnati in a press conference.
Jordan Hicks is rated as the No. 1 football recruit in the state of Ohio. Rivals.com and Scout.com rated him as the nation’s best player and among the top 20 players. But according to ESPNU top 150 rankings he is the number 4 recruit as a linebacker. He is the No. 4 pick nationally. He has also won the Dick Butkus Award as the top high school linebacker. His announcement to join the Texas team is the Mack Brown’s biggest victory and this is the first time he attracted a player out of Ohio. He upset the Ohio state early in the Longhorns’ 2005 national championship run. Hicks also received a commitment on Friday afternoon from Longhorns. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Hicks, chose Texas over Ohio State and Florida. During his senior season he recorded 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 80 tackles. Despites all this it will be hard for Jordan Hicks to beat Jim Tressel and Ohio State.
The announcement to join the Texas team is not a sealed deal by the Hicks as he has just verbally committed Texas. Anyhow his announcement news to join Texas is definitely great news for the Texas fans.
