Hurricane Jimena Track:After a hot weekend, expect slightly cooler temperatures today. Highs will still be warm and above normal though, ranging from 103-108. Partly cloudy skies and light winds can be expected. There’s a slight chance of storms along the Mogollon Rim today, and in southeast Arizona.
Throughout the week, expect a slow increase of humidity, along with partly cloudy skies, and cooling temperatures. Highs will be closer to average by midweek, and at that time, we also pick up a slight chance of storms in the Valley. The best chance of rain, of course, remains in the higher elevations around us. Rain chances for the entire state increase by the end of the week, as we tap into the remnant moisture from Hurricane Jimena.
Jimena is currently a Category 4 hurricane with sustained winds at 145 mph. Hurricane Jimena is moving NW at 8 mph, and is about 355 miles SSE of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The storm is expected to make landfall late Tuesday on the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where hurricane warnings and watches are already in effect. Hurricane Jimena will quickly lose strength over land, and as it slowly travels along the peninsula, is expected to eventually be downgraded into a remnant low pressure system by Friday.

Disney Buys Marvel:The Walt Disney empire is to buy the superheroes stable Marvel Entertainment for $4bn in a star-studded Hollywood deal that unites family names such as Mickey Mouse with lucrative characters including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk and the X-Men.
Disney hopes to put Marvel’s 5,000 characters to work on its television channels and in video games, theme parks and movies. The agreed takeover is for a mixture of cash and stock, with Disney shares accounting for roughly 40% of the buyout price.
The tie-up unites two companies with similar business models – they both take characters which capture the popular imagination and promote them vigorously around the world on every possible media platform and through third-party licensing deals.
While Disney has traditionally been known for its wholesome family creations ranging from the Little Mermaid to Lion King, Hannah Montana and Pocahontas, the purchase of Marvel adds an edgier, more violent element – it recently scored a box office success with Iron Man, a movie starring Robert Downey Jr as a billionaire inventor who creates a hi-tech suit of armour to battle evil.
Marvel’s characters, which include superhero Captain America, pictured right, tend to chime particularly well with teenage boys and young men, while Disney has been stronger in appealing to a female audience.
Disney’s chief executive, Bob Iger, said Marvel has a “treasure trove” of intellectual property that “transcends gender, age, culture and geographical barriers”.
“There are so many opportunities to mine both characters that are known and characters that are not widely known,” Iger said.
The tie-up is one of the largest US corporate transactions of the summer and marks a remarkable turnaround for Marvel, originally a comic book company, which filed for bankruptcy in 1996 under heavy debts as it faced a slump in comic book sales.
The two companies hope to complete the deal by the end of the year. Marvel’s chief executive, Ike Perlmutter, will be the largest personal winner, scooping $1.4bn in cash and Disney shares in return for his 37% stake in the business.
Perlmutter has been involved in running Marvel since helping to buy the business out of bankruptcy in 1998.

Farm Progress Show 2009:The 2009 Farm Progress Show, the nation’s biggest outdoor agricultural exhibition, will be held Tuesday through Thursday at the permanent biennial show site at Decatur.
The show opens at 8 a.m. daily and closes at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 4 p.m. Thursday. Admission is $10 for adults $5 for ages 13-17.
The show site is northeast of Decatur, south of Interstate 72 (Exits 150 and 144) and west of Richland Community College.
More than 500 exhibitors will display new farm equipment, tractors, combines and farm implements; seed and crop protection products; and many additional farm supplies and services.
Field demonstrations will include side-by-side tillage, GPS and precision equipment, and tractor and combine performance comparisons on hundreds of corn acres to be harvested. Livestock handling and horse training demonstrations are included.
The show also includes a wide variety of informational programs, entertainment and food offerings.

Darin Brooks Days Of Our Lives:It has been announced that Darin Brooks (Max Brady) will be leaving the show. He’s been playing the role of the race car driver turned mechanic turned math genius since 2005.
The news isn’t entirely surprising. The young actor has been busy shooting a new series called “Blue Mountain State” (read more here) as well as lending his time to various charities like Clothes off Our Backs and Tag the World. The character is expected to exit in May, around the same time that his current love interest, Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) is also expected to exit.
Soap Opera Fan Blog will be sad to see him go but we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

(c) Every person who forcibly, or by any other means of instilling fear, takes or holds, detains, or arrests any person, with a design to take the person out of this state, without having established a claim, according to the laws of the United States, or of this state, or who hires, persuades, entices, decoys, or seduces by false promises, misrepresentations, or the like, any person to go out of this state, or to be taken or removed therefrom, for the purpose and with the intent to sell that person into slavery or involuntary servitude, or otherwise to employ that person for his or her own use, or to the use of another, without the free will and consent of that persuaded person, is guilty of kidnapping.
(d) Every person who, being out of this state, abducts or takes by force or fraud any person contrary to the law of the place where that act is committed, and brings, sends, or conveys that person within the limits of this state, and is afterwards found within the limits thereof, is guilty of kidnapping.
(e) For purposes of those types of kidnapping requiring force, the amount of force required to kidnap an unresisting infant or child is the amount of physical force required to take and carry the child away a substantial distance for an illegal purpose or with an illegal intent.
(f) Subdivisions (a) to (d), inclusive, do not apply to any of the following:
(1) To any person who steals, takes, entices away, detains, conceals, or harbors any child under the age of 14 years, if that act is taken to protect the child from danger of imminent harm.
(2) To any person acting under Section 834 or 837.

Vitamin D is a big part of good nutrition, but this nutrient pregnancy so much has other functions in the body. Vitamin D is basically the role of maintenance of calcium in this role, she maintains the level of calcium in bones healthy. During pregnancy, vitamin D may work in a similar manner. However, the specific vitamin also affects hundreds of different genes and affect many areas of well-being.
The research surrounding vitamin D is growing day by day, and recently the American Academy of Dermatology has updated their recommendations to warn the public not to not getting enough vitamin D. Insufficient vitamin D is where you do not have the optimal amount of vitamin D circulating in your body, but are not identifiable deficiencies in nutrients. Referring to their new guidelines, the American Academy of Dermatology new guideline is:
“Vitamin D supports the position statement of belief longtime Academy on safe ways to get this important vitamin – through a healthy diet that includes foods naturally rich in vitamin D, vitamin D, food and fortified beverages and supplements of vitamin D, “said David Pariser, president of the American Academy of Dermatology.
“The recommendation to update for those who practice daily Sun Protection recognizes that, while protecting the skin against harmful UV rays is important, while maintaining both adequate levels of vitamin D. Concern about Vitamin D should not lead people to forego the sunscreen, but rather invites a conversation with their doctor about how to ensure adequate and safe intake of vitamin D and protect against skin cancer. ”
Does this change the guidelines on vitamin D and pregnancy? Not specifically. You should always get sun exposure acceptable for the manufacture of vitamin and reach the rest thanks to a healthy and balanced diet. Supplementation may help as well.

He said that Punjab government has provided a favourbale atmosphere for the promotion of industrial and trade activities and maximum facilities are being offered to industrialists for this purpose. He said that various projects for energy generation through hydel power and coal are being implemented in the province. He said that by giving another cheque of Rs.one crore, Lahore Chamber of Commerce has fulfilled its promise of donating Rs.5 crore for the relief and rehabilitation of Swat affectees.
This was stated by him during a meeting with office-bearers and members of executive committee of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Chief Minister’s Secretariat, here today. President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mian Muzaffar Ali, Senior Vice President Tahir Javed Malik and Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh were present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive strategy for the promotion of industrial and investment sector and Investment Board has been activated for this purpose. He said that industrial and trade sectors can be promoted only through overcoming energy crisis, therefore, various projects for generation of energy through hydle power and coal are being implemented. He said that 120 megawatt power will be generated through Taunsa Barrage Hydel Power Project. He said that government is paying special attention to the promotion of vocational education and a comprehensive plan is being evolved for vocational training with the consultation of industrialists and traders. He said that a skilled workforce will be developed in accordance with the market needs so that lakhs of students acquiring various skills could get jobs in industrial institutions. He appreciated the humanitarian spirit of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and said that Punjab government will set up a modern hospital equipped with the latest medical facilities for Swat affectees and negotiations are being held with NWFP government in this regard.

Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 Winners:The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners were a little surprising last night. The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners had some usual suspects, but the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners had some relatively new names and shows in the mix. At least two of the major Emmy Awards winners were upset choices,as the Daytime Emmy Awards put on a big show – even if it ended a little too late for the CW’s liking.
The biggest Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner of the night was The Bold and the Beautiful, which won its first Best Drama Series Emmy, and the first for a CBS program in 22 years. However, the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 were held on the CW, so by the time The Bold and the Beautiful cast and crew got their awards, it was 10 pm EST and the CW stopped their broadcast.
The CW didn’t have the same patience for late awards show as other networks do – but it blacked out the acceptance speeches of the major Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners, nonetheless. The Daytime Emmy Awards are already likely to get lousy ratings for being on the CW, no matter when it ended.
