“The 33rd Running Of Grandma’s Marathon”
June 20, 2009
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) The 33rd running of Grandma’s Marathon is expected to be a warm one.
The daytime temperature in the Duluth area Saturday is expected in the low 80s.
The race route begins in Two Harbors, winds along Lake Superior, and wraps up in downtown Duluth.
Registration this year was down, due to the slumped economy and increased competition from two late-spring marathons in the Twin Cities area.
Last year, Lamech Mokono of Kenya was the men’s winner. Mary Akor of California was the women’s winner.
