mumbai-attackAs Indian investigation into the Mumbai terror attacks is drawing to a close, theMumbai police have got the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials as witnesses in the trial of Mohammed Ajmal Kasab, the lone attacker caught alive.

Commissioner of police Hassan Gafoor confirmed about including FBI officials as witnesses. “There are various scientific tests done by the FBI which is better equipped,” he said.

However Gafoor refused to elaborate. “We have completed all the procedures for them to appear as witnesses. I cannot disclose further details as the chargesheet is yet to be filed.”
Besides FBI officials, there will be over hundred witnesses that include doctors, forensic experts and other eyewitnesses.

A FBI team was in Mumbai soon after the attack to carry out various forensic tests and lend their expertise in the investigation.

Sources said FBI had taken Kasab’s DNA samples and had examined undiffused bombs and arms and ammunition used by the terrorists. They had also examined other material recovered from the terrorist, sources said.

“FBI had helped us in the investigation of the satellite phone recovered from the terrorists. The service provider to this phone is based in the Middle East and FBI used its resources to get the details – crucial for investigation – from the master switch in Sharjah,” a police official said.

Mumbai police is likely to file a chargesheet in the terror attack case within a fortnight. In the chargesheet, 14 others including Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Hafiz Saeed and Abu Hamza will be shown as wanted.

Suicide Blast in Police Check Post, Bannu

Eighteen policemen were wounded in a suicide attack at a police check post near Bannu airport.

correspondent a suicide bomber rammed an explosives laden vehicle with the protective wall of a police check post at Miranshah road Monday morning causing injuries to seventeen policemen and a FC official. The bomber was killed in the incident.

There were 25 to 30 policemen at the police post.

The security has been stepped up in the area after the bombing and the security men have
cordoned off the area.

A police mobile van also attacked with remote-controlled bomb last night at Bannu-Dera road
near new vegetable market. The police officials were miraculously unharmed in the attack in
which the van was damaged.

Railway to ensure trains schedule

trainPakistan Railways (PR) General Manager Operations Saeed Akhtar has said the PR will use limited resources so as to complete all projects and also ensure timely arrival and departures of trains.

Saeed Akhtar was speaking after taking charge of his office at meeting of all Principle Officers and Deputy Chief Officers at the Pakistan Railways Headquarters on Saturday.

The meeting discussed the current state of affairs and the GM communicated his priorities to officials.

He said matter of salaries and drafts have been resolved and no such issue shall arise in the future as all expenditures will be contained within the allotted budget.

He said he will do everything possible to bring about positive changes in the freight department to improve the performance of the Pakistan Railways.

Saeed Akhtar stressed the fact that PR needed to practice appropriate cost cutting to reduce its debt. He said all this can only be achieved through teamwork.

He advised all office holders to submit their recommendations and suggestion that can contribute to the cause of economic revival and technological advancement of the Pakistan Railways.

Indian 13000 paramilitary pulled back to barracks in held Kashmir

indian-armySRINAGAR: Indian thirteen thousand paramilitary forces have started returning back to their barracks in held Kashmir, while the ex-army men have returned their medals on a row over their pension.

Following the orders of the occupied Kashmir chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to the state police for taking over the charge of law and order, the central government has had decided to pull back about 13 thousand personnel of RPF 143 battalions and the process of their return has started, who would later be sent to relevant states.

On the other hand ex-army officers and soldiers on refusal of one rank and one pension have decided to return back their medals to the President.

Kareena:Kings and queens exist in cards, not Bollywood

On being asked her opinion about Katrina Kaif as an actress, Kareena bluntly said: “I don’t talk about other actresses in press conferences.”

Kareena was present in the capital to promote a new initiative by hair removal cream brand Anne French.

She is looking forward to the release of a number of films in her kitty including Rajkumar Hirani’s “Three Idiots” and Sajid Nadiadwala’s “Kambakkht Ishq”.

In “Three Idiots”, she stars opposite Aamir Khan. In “Kambakkht Ishq”, she will be sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar for the seventh time.

About working with the two actors, Kareena said: “I pick up the best from whoever I work with. When you are working with someone, you kind of get tuned to the way that actor is working. I would like to pick up all the best qualities from both these people.”

Dilshan boosts Sri Lanka with 97

dilshanCOLOMBO (AFP)  Tillakaratne Dilshan missed a century by three runs as Sri Lanka posted a challenging 320-8 in the fifth and final one-day international against India here on Sunday.

The opener cracked nine fours in his 117-ball 97 to boost his side’s hopes of recording a consolation win after four successive defeats. He put on 143 for the second wicket with Kumar Sangakkara.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sangakkara smashed one six and eight fours in his brisk 70-ball 84, his third successive half-century.

Sri Lanka were strongly placed at 255-2 in the 42nd over before India struck back with four wickets for just one run, with fast bowler Ishant Sharma taking two in one over.

Sharma bowled Thilina Kandamby (26) and had Chamara Kapugedera caught behind for no score to peg the hosts back. Dilshan was run out in the same over following a mix-up with skipper Mahela Jayawardene.

Sri Lanka’s top order flourished for the first time in the series, with Dilshan, Sangakkara and Sanath Jayasuriya (37) dominating the Indian attack on a batting wicket.

India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni used nine bowlers, including four part-timers, but failed to contain runs as Dilshan, Sangakkara and Jayasuriya batted comfortably against pace and spin.

Jayasuriya exploded with a flurry of boundaries, pulling Sharma for three fours in an over. His cameo saw the hosts race to 66 off just 10 overs.

Jayasuriya, dropped on 19 by debutant Ravindra Jadeja at point off Irfan Pathan, eventually fell playing one shot too many. He was caught by Suresh Raina at mid-off off Pathan after hitting seven fours in his 35-ball knock.

Narendra Modi:Mumbai attacks sans inside help not possible

narendraNAGPUR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Narendra Modi has said that Mumbai attacks could not have been possible without the indoor help and blamed the government for not taking any action against the local groups.

Addressing a BJP Convention here, Indian state Gujrat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi slamming the Indian ruling party Congress policies said that their existing economic and foreign policies have failed, while alliance government has failed to ensure security for the people.

He said that Mimbai attacks could not have been possible without inside help, while the ruling alliance has not taken any action thus far against any local groups involved in the November 26 incidents.

Narendra Modi said that terrorism at no cost would be tolerated and urged for a tit-for-tat reply. He sarcastically said that the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh was the PM not perceivable.

Pakistan Cops Arrested 3 Indian Militants in Lahore

A security agency has arrested three suspected agents of the Indian spy agency from Bedian Road area in Lahore, sources said.

Surveillance cameras, two bogus passports and three identity cards with names of Akmal, Umar and Sarfaraz were found in their possession.

The arrested suspects have been transferred to undisclosed place for interrogation, sources said. The accused have confessed that they were collecting information about security and movement of a religious leader, the sources said.
